1984

"X3 is one of thirteen children that were kidnapped in the 80s from hospital nurseries across the world at the same time. The case was never solved, despite help from heroes all over the world. To this day the public has never seen, nor heard from, any of the children."

In reality, they were taken and smuggled to a lonely island in the south Pacific, owned by the Starii Foundation. It was the perfect location to build a secret weapons research and development lab, away from prying government eyes, regulations, and ethics. The project was overseen by Chairman Yuri Starii himself, creation of true living weapons, unfeeling and unburdened by emotion. The children were stripped of their given names, instead being referred to as Blade 1 through 13. Their training and indoctrination began immediately, despite their infantile states.

2000's

Interpol begins investigation into the brutal assassination of the U.K.'s premier defender, Queen's Guard. Despite his superhuman resilience, he was found with multiple lethal stab wounds, along with an abnormally high amount of ambient radiation. On a wall behind him was a large "XIII" that was drawn there in Queen's Guard's blood. The case baffles Interpol and Scotland Yard, until a string of murders, each with a different Roman numeral ranging from I-XII, force law enforcement to fear the worst; either a new serial killer was on the loose or they were looking at well organized group of psychotic murderers.
