AGE: 33
BIRTHPLACE: Ithaca, New York
POWERS:

  • VAMPIRISM
Jameson has been transformed into a vampire and, as a result, possesses a number of superhuman abilities including enhanced strength and speed, acute senses, a powerful healing factor, as well as retractable fangs and claws.

Jameson Allencourt was a best-selling horror novelist, known for his chilling tales of macabre suspense and intrigue. His first book, A Terror in Crimson, sold over a million copies within the first week of its release. He followed it up with five more, each just as successful as the last. One was even adapted into a hit television series as well.

Prolific as he was, Allencourt had also earned a reputation as an enigmatic and mysterious recluse. He’d turned down numerous press tours and interviews. Though he was engaged with fans online, he very rarely made public appearances. The fact that he’d sold so many copies of his novel with very little self promotion was a testament to the quality of his work. In truth however, there was nothing really mysterious about Jameson at all. He was actually quite friendly and outgoing. He just suffered from agoraphobia and preferred the comfort of his own home rather than the noisy outside world. But his agent claimed “mysterious” sold better, so. A recluse he was.

When a fellow novelist joined him for dinner one evening, he regaled Jameson with tales of his last trip abroad to Paris. He spoke of dining at the most extravagant restaurants, experiencing the amazing views of French countryside and the rich, Parisian nightlife. Then he came to what Jameson could tell he was building up to: Purgâtoirè. An exclusive, invite-only masquerade soirée held only once a year within the obscenely large manor of Lady Renette Le Normant d'Étiolles, an infamously mysterious heiress. He claimed the experience was life-changing and absolutely to die for. While he was initially opposed to the idea of leaving for an extended amount of time, it'd been years since he’d taken an actual vacation. That and he'd been putting off starting to write his next novel for months. At the least, he'd hoped that a trip to France might serve as a source of inspiration.

One month later, Jameson found himself in the most immaculate and ornately-decorated mansion he'd ever seen. The gathering was everything his friend had touted and more. Eventually, after a bit of mingling, Jameson was introduced to the lady of the manor. She was one of the most beautiful women he'd ever seen. Completely entranced by her presence, the two conversed for the rest of the evening. She admitted to being a big fan of his novels. The pair joked and laughed for the rest of the evening. As the party wound down and the guests left, Jameson was surprised when she invited him to stay. They retired to her bedchamber and that was the last thing he remembered.

He knew he never should've left his house.

When he awoke, he found he possessed a thirst he'd never felt before. He stumbled around, searching for water but found Lady Renette instead, in her study, nonchalantly draped over a body. Sensing his presence, she turned, revealing a pair of fangs and Jameson realized what had happened. She'd turned him into a vampire! She implored him to join her coven but he refused, horrified at the monster he'd become. Offended by the act of disrespect, she cast him out, claiming that eventually, he'd return and beg her to take him in again. Alone and afraid, Jameson had no other choice but to return to America, sneaking aboard a merchant ship as a stowaway.

Jameson chose not to return to his old life. In the weeks that followed, as his estate was left abandoned and the man himself missing, Jameson Allencourt was declared dead. He drifted from town to town, traveling across the country, feeding on wild animals to survive rather than humans. Jameson resolved himself to his fate. If this was to be his life now, he'd make the best of it. He might be cursed, but that doesn’t mean he can’t use the strange abilities it’d given him to do some good.

Vampirism
Jameson has been transformed into a vampire and now possesses the host of inherent abilities that come with being one.

Physiology: Jameson possesses superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and reflexes. He’s able to lift ten times more than that of a normal human being. He can run for far longer and move at speeds far beyond the limits of even the greatest athletes.
Enhanced Senses: Jameson’s senses of sight and smell are enhanced to levels well beyond that of normal humans. He is able to detect objects with perfect clarity at much greater distances than a normal human. He can see in near-total darkness as well as into the infra-red end of the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing him to see individuals at night by their body heat. His sense of smell is similarly enhanced, able to detect the scent of blood in the air from miles away.
Healing Factor: Like all vampires, Jameson possesses an accelerated healing factor that enables him to rapidly regenerate damaged bodily tissues much faster and more extensively than a normal human. Injuries such as gunshots, slashes, and severe burns heal within hours or minutes, depending upon their severity. Though highly developed, Jameson’s healing powers aren't sufficient to regenerate missing limbs or organs.
