Affiliation & Motives
After several years of honing his fighting ability, collecting secrets, theft, intimidation, and playing factions against each other, Spider Monkey has amassed tremendous personal power. He gained favor with and subsequently supplanted Black Scorpion. To this day he maintains an insider/outsider status in the ranks of Arachnos, routinely calling on Arachnos troops for backup when it suits him-- with impunity.
Spider Monkey is pragmatic and amoral in the extreme, and has little patience for those motivated by abstract knowledge or altruism. But he is predictable in the sense of having no moral complications, being difficult or impossible to trick, and uninterested in wasting time or resources fighting with heroic institutions like Longbow. Spider Monkey's long term goal is to wrest control of Arachnos away from Lord Recluse, and govern the Rogue Isles with a kind of amoral pragmatism, ousting the unstable, sentimental people like Recluse, Scirocco, and Ghost Widow, and then turn public sentiment against his more 'clear-headed' rivals-- Black Scorpion and Mako, before killing them.
More recently, Spider Monkey has organized a group for mutant Arachnos irregular operatives, called Monkey's Spiderlings

'Infinite Speed' And Prescience
For some time, Spider Monkey's potential for speed was thought to be limitless. While well beyond human limits, in fact Spider Monkey's sheer physical speed is definitely limited. The confusion arises because of his astonishing short term prescience.
Superhuman Strength, Speed, Toughness, Healing
Spider Monkey's raw physical speed and strength are far beyond ordinary human limits, as is his sheer toughness and healing factor.
Intelligence
Spider Monkey's patience with bookish information is short, but his cunning, adaptability, and gift for bluff and deceit rarely give his foes a chance to react. As mentioned, he is also able to see the near future with great clarity.
Arachnos Support
Spider Monkey works closely with robotic spiders, whose logic is familiar and even comforting to him, and he often has a few such servants on-hand when practical. He also has a kind of rapport with Fortunatas, whose perspectives, like his, are bent by an awareness of the future. He also has recognized credentials to fly Arachnos Transport vehicles, and often can be seen using the Scorpion Mace in combat when it suits his whim.
Origin
One more experimental program in Arachnos' labs. Its paradigm: create the superhuman not by subtracting inferior traits, but by compounding strengths of all primates. Spider Monkey, a meta-primate-- one of the few specimens that survived-- possesses extraordinary superhuman strength and toughness, speed, and intelligence.
Alternate Incarnations
Evidently due to one of his clones' exposure to a psychic inter-dimensional rift, a moral and heroic version of Spider Monkey sometimes appears in Paragon City in a red and blue outfit-- whether this is a clone, psychic subversion, or a physical switch is not clear. Additionally, Spider Monkey survived a harrowing battle on a future earth between Nemesis Rex and Luminary, and assembled an automaton assistant called "Brass Monkey" to help him survive his quest to power up a portal to allow him to return to the past.
