Born in the worst part of Paragon City to two hard working parents, Tyler Nash possessed an above-average intelligence and an aptitude for just about anything he set his mind to. His parents would often joke that they had no idea how someone so brilliant came from two high school dropouts. Tyler was also a superhero aficionado. As a kid, he'd escape from the world by following their latest exploits and pretending he was fighting alongside them. To that end, he was also naturally athletic, and all that time spent running and jumping and playfighting kept him in shape when he entered high school. There, he inevitably put aside his childhood fantasies and focused on more important things, like his schoolwork. And girls.

Tyler's brilliance served him well as he earned a scholarship to MIT where he studied engineering and robotics, going on to intern at Apex Dynamix, a multi-national science corporation specializing in bleeding-edge developmental technology. While he enjoyed his work at Apex, their partnership with CANNON, a controversial private military contractor, left a bad taste in his mouth. Especially after he inadvertently intercepted a memo between his overseer and Apex's CEO where the terms "acceptable losses" and "civilian casualties" were sprinkled in.

He'd intended on asking for his parents advice once he went home to visit but when he arrived, he was disheartened to find that the quality of his neighborhood had declined even further in his time away. Crime was up and the city was the least safe it'd ever been, a fact his parents had kept from him so he wouldn't worry and come back home. His decision to resign was cemented however when he brought up the company's ethics to his boss and his response was akin to "Ethics and morals don't fund progress". Refusing to let any of his work be used nefariously, Tyler snuck into the R&D lab after-hours and absconded with everything he'd ever contributed in his time working there.

He returned to his parents home and while contemplating what to do next with his life, was startled by the sound of a gunshot from down the block. Looking around his childhood bedroom, from the superhero posters on the wall to the tech he'd retrieved on his desk, an idea began to form in his mind...

To compensate for a lack of superhuman abilities, Tyler carries a number of high-tech devices in his war on crime. Some were taken from Apex Dynamix's R&D department, others were invented by Tyler himself.

WINGSUIT: Tyler's original attire consisted of a wingsuit he had lying around plus some old hockey pads. The suit itself has gone through multiple upgrades and redesigns. Sleek, flexible, and form-fitting, the WingSuit allows Tyler maximized mobility in the field and in combat. Lined with specialized armored pads that absorb kinetic energy and protect Tyler from impacts such as falls or blunt force trauma. It is also capable of resisting small arms fire and bladed weapons.
The cowl is outfitted with goggles that grant Tyler full night-vision, spectrum analysis and image magnification. It also includes as well as a built in radio communications earpiece. The soles of his boots contain energy regulators that enable him to land soundlessly. The WingSuit is also fitted with a cape that when spread allows him to glide short distances, which along with his parkour skills, greatly boosts his ability to get around the city quickly.
ION BLADES: Wildwing's gauntlets are equipped with wrist-mounted devices that project blades of energy that can slice through metal or stun enemies by generating a powerful electric shock.

UTILITY BELT: Consisting of durable interlocking impervium buckle and metal band, Wildwing's utlity belt houses (at least) eight different tactical pouches attached to the outside of the belt. Each of the pouches contain gadgets such as bolas, smoke grenades and pellets, electronic tracers & bugs, lockpicks, EMP grenades, along with a miniature tablet computer-like device.

Highly intelligent and academically motivated, Tyler is incredibly disciplined and has been since he was a child. Though he's incredibly talented in a multitude of fields, he can be something of an overachiever and has a tendency to overthink things, which while positively affecting his ability to plan, it sometimes negatively affects his personal life. He's slightly neurotic as he possesses an amazing memory but sometimes focuses on the wrong things, such as things people say or do. His naturally high intellect allows him to excel in computer science and more importantly as a skilled detective. He possesses a strong moral compass and is always determined to help those in need, regardless of the circumstances.

  • Badass Normal - Though Tyler does not possess any superpowers, he can still hold his own against those with superhuman abilities, constantly using his intellect to outsmart his foes.
  • Gadgeteer Genius - Tyler creates and maintains the gadgets and devices he uses in his war on crime. He is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable engineer and with enough time, can usually fix any piece of technology he's given.
  • Stealth Expert - Very good at remaining hidden, even before receiving any training and becoming Wildwing. He's skilled at taking advantage of the dark both to not be seen and to instill fear in those he hunts down.
