History
William "Bill" Mitchell was born in Hell's Kitchen in 1945. His mother having died in labors, he was raised by his father, a patrolman in the New York Police Department.
On his twelfth birthday, he helped save an old man from a burning building, and in return, the old man granted him a magical baseball bat before vanishing.
He used that baseball bat and the abilities it conferred him to fight crime, first as "Billy, the Golden Boy", then later as "Cooperstown".
