"Ungrh... what happened?.. God, I feel like shit..." You fell. The tall, crumpled figure of a woman wills her eyes open. Gingerly, she brushes a mass of golden hair out of her face and winces. Fell? That didn't make sense. She was walking on the trail, and then... Her eyes bolt wide and she leaps to her feet - or tries to; her legs give way and she collapses against the rock face. The young woman looks up. The trail had to be eighty, ninety feet high- Eighty-five. And yes, you would have died. I caught you. The hiker shakes her head. At last, the world stops spinning and her eyes focus on the area in front of her - and on the slender, glimmering figure towering over her. She stares up at it, eyes shimmering with wonder. A sense of calm and hope eminates from the figure and washes over her. Suddenly, an inner font of strength finds its way to the fore. The woman furrows her brows and speaks with a direct Texan drawl. "Alright, you. My name's Addison. I sure as shit am grateful to you for savin' me, but I don't know who or what the hell ya are, or what yer doin' here, or why ya saved me, an' I think it's about time I started gettin' some explanatio-" Hello, Addison. You may call me Aura. And we have work to do. |
