Fujiyama Ichigo (western: Ichigo Fujiyama) is the daughter of Hiro Fujiyama, former CEO of Fujiyama Heavy Arms, one of Japan's top defense contractors and exclusive supplier of arms to the Japan Planetary Defense Force. After Hiro's unfortunate passing 3 years ago (officially in a Rikti assault, but Ichigo and her sisters believed he was killed by his business partner, Daigo Matsumoto, for control of the company and all its defense contracts), Ichigo stole one of the company's new X15 Combat Trooper Mobile Fortress mechs, which she named Ichigo, both after herself and because of the pronunciation of the numbers 1 and 5 in Japanese ('ichi' and 'go' respectively), and the standard equipment for both mech and pilot, initially to investigate Matsumoto's dealings, but she was quickly caught up in a battle between Japan's Planetary Defense Force, the American Freedom Phalanx, and a Rikti scout crew, during which she proved herself a competent fighter both in and out of the mech, and was recruited (on a provisional basis) to the JPDF, pending the completion of her high school studies. Ichigo completed her high school studies, graduating in the top 25th percentile of her class, and accepted the JPDF's recruitment offer, serving as a Mech pilot part-time for them and attending college part-time for herself. Soon, she learned that a contact of Matsumoto's, the Countess Crey, was operating out of a place called Paragon City in the United States. She resigned from her JPDF posting, and took her equipment and as much of her belongings as she could load into the mech's cargo attachment, and flew overseas, setting up shop in a studio apartment in Paragon City's King's Row neighborhood, registering as a student at Paragon University. She began investigating Crey on her free time, and piloting her mech in the service of the common good in the city.
