ABILITIES

  • PRECIPITATION CONTROL
With the ability to create dense clouds and precipitation from them, she can control massive flows of water.
  • TEMPERATURE CONTROL
A manifestation that allows her to shift the temperature of the water she produces into sleet or hail depending on the shift.

As a teenager in Seattle, Lana Chase spent most of her time in coffee shops, listening to music and watching the rain through the windows. She always had a sort of fascination and attraction to stormy weather, and whenever anyone commented on her personality they called her dour because of it. It only stands to reason that when her mutation kicked in at 20, she manifested powers that seemed almost keyed into that personification of her mood. A control over the weather was originally diagnosed, but truthfully, they found that she could control precipitation and the temperature of the air around it, allowing her a limited skill set and more room for creativity. Along with that, her hair mutated to the color of dark storm clouds, and her eyes lost color altogether and sometimes spark with a bit of what seems like 'storminess'.

Moving to Paragon City was the next logical step after she ran out of training options in Seattle; Lana packed up all her stuff at the age of 26 and has been working in Paragon City as the hero Raincheck ever since, lending her certain sort of dulled enthusiasm to anyone who would allow her in their team. Sometimes she still gets checked on the idea of her attitude being morose, but really she just thinks she's subdued in just the right amount.

PRECIPITATION CONTROL — Rather than controlling water outright, Lana has the ability to form clouds of any shape or size and formation, utilizing them to produce rain water and use it against her foes. Mostly the clouds will form around her hands when she's using the power in the vein of blasts. Sometimes she just manifests a dopey little cloud to rain on plants of offer water to thirsty animals.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL — Along with the control over precipitation, she can control the temperature at which she creates the water vapor, producing anything from rain to sleet to hail and all sorts of ice floes to hinder her foes and aid her team.

FLIGHT — The ability to fly was a surprise to Lana the first time it happened. A cloud formed under her feet, solid as stone, but with the buoyancy to lift her into the air and keep Lana safely in the air. She's never tried to use it for anything else, but sometimes she sits in a lotus pose on top of a cloud just to think.

ACROBATICS — More an extention of her childhood before she got her powers, Lana spent a lot of her time doing parkour around the time when she wasn't curled up in the nook of a local bookstore or coffee shop to read. She got really good at it, and still utilizes this today to aid in her hero work.

Chill — Donnie Hopkins is the Tigger to her Eeyore, showing way more personality on any given day than Lana ever has. They found each other by happenstance when thrust into a mission together, and have been nigh inseparable since. Though their personalities differ somewhat, their powers are extremely complementary, and they're able to create a sort of synergy any time they work together.

Rain Aura — Almost dependent on her mood, Lana is surrounded by a sort of misty fog or has a small, almost cartoon rain cloud over her head which drenches her, not unlike Eeyore

The Eeyore — Lana will forever argue that she's not nearly so morose or dour as people make her out to be, but she can't deny the similarities between she and Eeyore, no matter how much she tries.

Flying on a Cloud — The ability to fly was a surprise to Lana. It came in the form of clouds forming somehow solidly under her feet and allowing her to float along on it like it was a corporeal item instead of just water vapor; she isn't sure how this one works.

Personal Raincloud — Most people would see it as a bad thing, but Lana loves her little raincloud. She finds solace in its drizzle and sometimes she might not be smiling, but it's heartening for her to have it around. Almost like a friend to her, she anthropomorphizes the cloud and has named him Frank.

Weather Manipulation — Even though she can't control all aspects of weather, the act of creating precipitation and such from nothing still falls within the purview.
